What is a Health Share?

Health sharing programs have become a popular, low-cost alternative to traditional health insurance. A Health Share is a community of people who voluntarily share medical expenses with one another.

Unlike conventional insurance—which typically pays only a percentage of costs after you meet your deductible—Health Shares are designed to cover up to 100% of eligible medical expenses once you’ve paid your initial member responsibility amount.

What is a Health Share UA and how does it work?

Members choose their Unshared Amount (UA) - the portion they’re responsible for when a medical need occurs. You can select from three flexible options: $1,500, $2,500, or $5,000.

Unlike a traditional insurance deductible, you only pay one UA per incident, no matter how many eligible medical services are involved. This gives you predictable costs and greater peace of mind when unexpected health needs arise.

Health Shares also cover holistic and alternative medical treatments, giving members more freedom and flexibility than traditional insurance plans typically allow.

How Sharing Works

Submit a Sharing Request

When you have a medical event, open a request so the community knows how to support you.

Present as a Self-Pay Patient

The Health Share is not insurance — you pay as a self-pay patient and request itemized bills plus available discounts.

Share with the Community

Eligible expenses above your UA are shared among members, and we help coordinate payment to your provider.

Health Share fills the gaps.

Pair your Preventive Care plan with a  Health Share membership for complete protection and peace of mind. As a member, you’ll gain the confidence of knowing that major medical events,  such as hospitalizations, surgeries, and maternity needs ,  can be shared within the community.

ShareWell is a nonprofit Health Share program that provides a structured, organized way for members to help cover each other’s eligible medical costs. It’s the ideal complement to any of our Preventive Care plans, giving your family an added layer of security when unexpected medical needs arise.
